DESCRIPTION. This command creates an empty Git repository - basically a .git directory with subdirectories for objects , refs/heads , refs/tags , and template files.

The command can be used to convert an old project into a Git Repository or to create a fresh repository. The git init command is used to generate a new, empty Git repository or to reinitialize an existing one. With the help of this command, a.git subdirectory is created, which includes the metadata, like subdirectories for objects and template files, needed for generating a new Git repository. The git init usage git init only creates a blank repository; it is your duty to then deliberately add commits to it.
